One-Day Seminar on Statistics Using R at GVNC

The Department of Statistics, G. Venkataswamy Naidu College (Autonomous), Kovilpatti, successfully organized a One-Day Seminar titled “From Foundations to Forecasting: A Practical Journey through Basic and Advanced Statistics Using R” on January 07.01.2026 and 08.01.2026.

The seminar was handled by Ms. G. Pragatheeswari, an alumna of the department (2019–2022) and currently working as a Clinical Research Data Analyst at Visliant, Baltimore, USA. She shared her professional experience and demonstrated the use of R programming for data analysis, statistical testing, visualization, and forecasting.

The programme began with a prayer song and welcome address. Dr. B. Makesh Kumar delivered the presidential address. The resource person’s session provided practical insights into applying statistical concepts using R in real-world research and industry scenarios. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks.

The event was highly beneficial to students, helping them gain practical knowledge of statistics and explore future career opportunities in data analysis and research.

 Government Free Laptop Distribution Programme for our College Students

Under the Tamil Nadu Government’s free laptop distribution scheme for college students, G. Venkataswamy Naidu College (Autonomous), Kovilpatti, successfully received and distributed 521 laptops to eligible students to support digital learning and academic development.

The laptop distribution programme was conducted at the college auditorium in the presence of eminent government officials. Thiru. A. Ravichandran, District Revenue Officer, Thoothukudi District, and Mr. Himanshu, Sub-Collector, graced the occasion and distributed laptops to the students. The dignitaries emphasized the importance of technology in education and encouraged students to utilize the laptops effectively for learning and skill enhancement.

The programme was presided over by Dr. M. Subbulakshmi, Principal, and Dr. B. Makeshkumar, Director (Self-Financing Campus), who highlighted the government’s commitment towards empowering students through digital initiatives. Mrs. Gomathi Sankareeswari, Coordinator of the Laptop Distribution Programme, played a key role in organizing and coordinating the event successfully with the support of faculty members and staff.

The management, staff, and students expressed their sincere gratitude to the Tamil Nadu Government for this student-centric initiative. The programme concluded smoothly with active participation from students and staff members.








GVNC Inauguration cum MoU Signing Ceremony and Placement Drive - 02.01.2026

 

`Inauguration cum MoU Signing Ceremony and Placement Drive Held at GVNC, Kovilpatti

           G. Venkataswamy Naidu College (Autonomous), Kovilpatti, organised an Inauguration cum MoU Signing Ceremony and Placement Drive on 02 January 2026 at 10.00 a.m. in the college auditorium. The programme was jointly organised by the Industry Relations Cell, Career Guidance, Placement and Skill Development Cell, and the Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell, under the guidance of the Institution’s Innovation Council.

The programme began with a prayer song, followed by the lighting of the lamp. The Welcome Address was delivered by Mrs. K. Renukadevi, Assistant Professor of Physics. The Presidential Address was given by the Principal, Dr. M. Subbulakshmi, who highlighted the importance of industry–institution collaboration and placement-oriented training for students.

The Felicitations were offered by Dr. B. Makesh Kumar, Director (Self-Financing Courses), and Mr. R. Venkatesan, IQAC Coordinator, who emphasised skill development, innovation, and employability.

The technical sessions were handled by industry experts from Sri Sumukha Enterprises, Hosur. Session I was conducted by Mr. Dhanunjaya K, Manager / HR, and Session II was handled by Mr. Mahesh Kumar V, Assistant Manager / HR, along with Mr. Jagannathan, HR Safety Officer. The speakers addressed the students on the topic “Current Industrial Knowledge and Focus on Candidates’ Hiring”, providing valuable insights into industry expectations, recruitment processes, and workplace readiness.

The event was inaugurated by the industry representatives in the presence of the Chief Patron, Dr. P. Mahendran, Secretary, Patron, Dr. M. Subbulakshmi, Principal, and Co-Patron, Dr. B. Makesh Kumar, Director (SFC). The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. M. Vairavan.

The MoU signing and placement drive served as a meaningful step towards strengthening industry linkage and enhancing career opportunities for the students of the institution.









 

GVNC - Solar Power System Inaugurated - 02.01.2026

 

Solar Power System Inaugurated at GVNC, Kovilpatti

G. Venkataswamy Naidu College (Autonomous), Kovilpatti, has taken a significant step towards sustainability by installing a solar power system on its campus. The solar panel system was inaugurated on 02 January 2026.

The newly installed solar panels have been set up on the college premises with the objective of promoting renewable energy, reducing dependency on conventional power sources, and encouraging eco-friendly practices among students and staff. The system converts solar energy into electrical power, contributing to energy conservation and cost efficiency.

The inauguration marked an important milestone in the college’s efforts to support green energy initiatives and environmental responsibility. The functioning of the solar power unit reflects the institution’s commitment to sustainable development and responsible use of natural resources.

With this initiative, the college aims to create awareness about renewable energy among students and inspire them to adopt environmentally conscious practices in their academic and personal lives. The solar power installation stands as a positive step towards a greener and cleaner campus.

GVNC TALENTFEST 2025

Annual Inter-departmental Competitions

The Linguaholic Forum of G. Venkataswamy Naidu College (Autonomous), Kovilpatti, organised the Annual Inter-departmental cultural and skill-based competitions titled “GVNC Talentfest 2025” on December 30 and 31, 2025. Dr. Mahendran, the college secretary, presided over the inaugural function. The Principal Dr. Subbulakshmi delivered the presidential address, and Dr. Mahesh Kumar, Director of Self-Financing Courses, delivered the felicitation address. Their speeches motivated students to actively participate and showcase their talents.

During the two days, a wide range of cultural and literary events took place, including quiz, dance, mime, skit, singing, and creative writing competitions. More than 450 students actively participated in these events, displaying creativity, confidence, and teamwork.

At the valedictory function, prizes were distributed to the winners. The Department of Computer Applications secured the overall first place and rolling trophy, while the Department of Statistics won the second place rolling trophy.

The event was successfully organised under the guidance of the College Management, Secretary Principal, Director of self-financing courses and faculty members. Student representatives Victoria Annie, Mathan Prasad, Jayachitra, Krishna, Sathya, Jennifer, Ajitha, and other volunteers played a key role in coordinating the programme.

Dr. R. Saravana Selvakumar, the Coordinator of the Linguaholic Forum, delivered the vote of thanks. GVNC Talentfest 2025 served as a vibrant platform for students to exhibit their talents and strengthen their co-curricular skills, making the event a grand success.
