G. Venkataswamy Naidu College (Autonomous), Kovilpatti, successfully conducted the Capacity Building Programme for Non-Teaching Staff on 21 February 2026 at the Seminar Hall (SFC) as part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.

The programme, organized by the Ethics Committee & Staff Club of GVNC, aimed at enhancing professional competence, administrative efficiency, workplace ethics, and interpersonal skills among the non-teaching staff members. The initiative highlighted the institution’s commitment to strengthening internal systems and promoting a culture of continuous professional development.

We were privileged to have distinguished resource persons:

  • Dr. N. Sudha Kumari, Assistant Professor, Annamal College of Education for Women, Thoothukudi

The sessions were highly interactive and insightful, focusing on effective office management, communication skills, teamwork, ethical practices, and institutional responsibility. Participants were actively engaged in discussions and activities, making the program both informative and impactful.

GVNC - Samathuva Pongal Celebration at Our College – 13.01.2026

 Our college joyfully celebrated Samathuva Pongal on 13th January 2026 with great enthusiasm and unity. The celebration reflected the true spirit of equality, togetherness, and cultural harmony among students, faculty members, and staff.

The campus was beautifully decorated with traditional kolams, sugarcane, and festive arrangements, creating a vibrant Pongal atmosphere. One of the special highlights of the event was the department-wise Pongal celebration, where each department actively participated by preparing Pongal and showcasing their creativity. This encouraged teamwork and strengthened the bond among students across various disciplines.

In addition to the traditional celebration, a variety of sports events were organized to promote physical fitness and healthy competition. Students enthusiastically took part in games and matches, displaying sportsmanship and energy.

The celebration was further enriched with cultural programmes, including folk dances, songs, skits, and traditional performances that portrayed the rich heritage of Tamil culture. The performances added colour and excitement to the event and were enjoyed by everyone present.

The Samathuva Pongal celebration was not just a festival, but a meaningful occasion that emphasized equality, unity, and respect for traditions. It provided a joyful platform for students to express their talents and celebrate together as one college family.

GVNC - Republic Day Celebration at Our College – 26.01.2026

 Our college proudly celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India on 26th January 2026 with great patriotism and enthusiasm. The campus was filled with a sense of national pride as students, faculty members, and staff gathered to commemorate this important day in the history of our nation.

Mrs. Sucila, Senior Faculty, Department of Mathematics hoisted the National Flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.  The Secretary addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of the Indian Constitution and the values of democracy, equality, and unity.

Students also participated in various competitions conducted as part of the celebration, promoting teamwork and discipline. The winners were honoured during the celebration. 

The Republic Day celebration served as a reminder of our duties as responsible citizens and motivated the students to contribute positively towards the progress of the country.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of patriotism and pride.








GVNC - Governing Body Meeting – 12.01.2026







 Our college successfully conducted the Governing Body Meeting on 12th January 2026 with the presence of esteemed members of the Governing Body, management representatives, and college administration.

The meeting focused on reviewing the academic progress, institutional development activities, infrastructure growth, and future plans of the college. Important discussions were held regarding quality enhancement in teaching and learning, student welfare measures, research initiatives, and upcoming programmes.

The Governing Body members provided valuable suggestions and guidance for the continuous improvement of the institution. Their support and constructive feedback played a vital role in strengthening the academic and administrative framework of the college.

The meeting concluded with a positive outlook towards achieving the college’s vision and ensuring excellence in education and overall development.

GVNC - Dept. of Statistics - A One-Day Seminar on "From Foundations to Forecasting: A Practical Journey through Basic and Advanced Statistics Using R - 07&08.01.2026

One-Day Seminar on Statistics Using R at GVNC

The Department of Statistics, G. Venkataswamy Naidu College (Autonomous), Kovilpatti, successfully organized a One-Day Seminar titled “From Foundations to Forecasting: A Practical Journey through Basic and Advanced Statistics Using R” on January 07.01.2026 and 08.01.2026.

The seminar was handled by Ms. G. Pragatheeswari, an alumna of the department (2019–2022) and currently working as a Clinical Research Data Analyst at Visliant, Baltimore, USA. She shared her professional experience and demonstrated the use of R programming for data analysis, statistical testing, visualization, and forecasting.

The programme began with a prayer song and welcome address. Dr. B. Makesh Kumar delivered the presidential address. The resource person’s session provided practical insights into applying statistical concepts using R in real-world research and industry scenarios. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks.

The event was highly beneficial to students, helping them gain practical knowledge of statistics and explore future career opportunities in data analysis and research.
