Library Orientation Programme for Freshers
Organized by The Department of Library & NDLI Club
To guide the newly admitted students in navigating
academic resources effectively, the Library
and NDLI Club of G.Venkataswamy
Naidu College (Autonomous), Kovilpatti organized a Library Orientation Programme on 14th and 15th July 2025. The
orientation aimed to introduce freshers to the college library’s wide range of
facilities, resources, and digital services, including N-LIST and NDLI (National
Digital Library of India).
The programme was conducted department-wise in the college library to ensure individual
attention and smooth participation. Students were oriented on essential topics
such as how to search the library catalogue, use e-resources efficiently,
understand borrowing and returning procedures, and follow best practices for
responsible library use.
The sessions emphasized the importance of developing
strong information literacy skills at the beginning of their academic journey.
Students were also encouraged to make the most of digital platforms like NDLI
and N-LIST to supplement their learning and research.
This initiative by the Library and NDLI Club was well
received by the students, who expressed appreciation for the opportunity to
become better acquainted with the resources and support systems available on
campus. The orientation served as a vital first step in helping students
cultivate good reading habits, research skills, and academic discipline.
