 Celebrating the Vision of Our Founder

G. Venkataswamy Naidu College (Autonomous), Kovilpatti, celebrated Founder’s Day – 2026 on 12 August 2026 at the Shri N. Damotharan Memorial Auditorium, Self-Financing Campus, Kovilpatti, with great reverence and enthusiasm. The celebration was organised in honour of our esteemed founder, Shri G. Kuppuswamy Naidu, whose enduring vision, values, and commitment to education continue to inspire generations of learners.

The celebration commenced with the invocation and lighting of the Gnana Jyothi, symbolising the illumination of knowledge and the enduring light of education. The Inter-School Meet, featuring various competitions for school students, provided a vibrant platform for young talents to showcase their abilities, creativity, confidence, and competitive spirit.

Dr. P. Mahendran, Ph.D., Secretary; Dr. A. Pandiarani, Ph.D., Principal; and Dr. B. Makesh Kumar, Ph.D., Director, graced the occasion and highlighted the importance of preserving the vision and values of the institution’s founder.

The occasion was further enriched by the Chief Guest Address delivered by Thiru P. Ponnusamy, Founder/Chairman, M/s Ponnus Natural Products, E. Ramanathapuram. His address offered valuable thoughts and inspiration to the students, encouraging them to pursue excellence while remaining committed to social responsibility, ethical values, and the importance of agriculture and farming.

An added feature of the Founder’s Day celebration was the Youth Parliament organised by the Department of English (Aided). The student participants actively took part in the parliamentary proceedings and demonstrated remarkable confidence, leadership, communication skills, and awareness of contemporary social issues. As part of the simulated parliamentary session, the students deliberated on various issues concerning youth and society and successfully introduced and passed the Drug Abolition Bill, 2026. The Youth Parliament provided an engaging platform for students to understand democratic processes, parliamentary procedures, constructive debate, and the responsibilities of citizens. The enthusiastic participation and effective performance of the students added a special dimension to the Founder’s Day celebration.

The celebration also featured cultural performances, which added colour and vibrancy to the occasion. The talents of the participants in the Inter-School Meet were recognised through the prize distribution ceremony, appreciating their enthusiasm and achievements.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem, bringing the celebration to a dignified close.

Founder’s Day was not merely a celebration of an individual but a heartfelt tribute to a visionary whose dream of providing quality education continues to flourish. The values of education, discipline, service, social responsibility, and commitment to society embodied by Shri G. Kuppuswamy Naidu remain an enduring source of inspiration for the management, faculty, students, and the entire college community.

The celebration served as a meaningful reminder that a great institution is built not only through its achievements but also through the vision, values, and ideals upon which it was founded. The vibrant participation of students in the Inter-School Meet, cultural programmes, and Youth Parliament reflected the institution’s continued commitment to nurturing knowledgeable, confident, responsible, and socially conscious young citizens.
